Storyboard: This is a basic summary of the movie, but we will be flexible when it comes to this. Every "scene" (thread), I will be posting goals and certain lines that need to be said during the script. We will also be needing extras from time to time!
In 1978, con artists Wilford "Will" Althaus and Annika Honeysett have started a relationship and are working together. Annika has improved Althaus's scams, posing as Belgian aristocrat "Lady Rosette van Weingartner". While Will loves Annika, he is hesitant to leave his wife Cathy out of fear of losing contact with their son, Jonathan. Cathy has also threatened that she could report Irving to the police if he leaves her.
FBI agent Cedric Bencivenni catches Will and Annika in a loan scam, but offers to release them if Will can line up four additional arrests. Annika opposes the agreement. Cedric believes Annika is Belgian but has proof that her claim of aristocracy is fraudulent. Annika tells Will she will manipulate Cedric, distancing herself from Will.
Will has a friend pretending to be a wealthy Arab sheikh looking for potential investments in England. An associate of Will's suggests the sheikh do business with Mayor Theodore Tosetti of Chester, who is campaigning to revitalize gambling in Liverpool but has struggled in fundraising. Cedric devises a plan to make Theodore the target of a sting operation, despite the objections of Will and of Cedric's boss, Elliot Christensen. Annika helps Cedric manipulate an FBI secretary into making an unauthorized wire transfer of $2,000,000. When Elliot's boss, Patrick Barnes, hears of the operation, he praises Cedric's initiative, pressuring Elliot to continue.
Cedric's overeagerness to catch Theodore causes the mayor to leave their meeting. Will convinces Theodore the sheikh is legitimate, expressing his dislike toward Cedric, and the two become friends. Cedric arranges for Theodore to meet the sheikh at an airfield, and without consulting the others, has Indian-British MI6 agent Ashok Joshi play the sheikh, a move Will is not pleased with.
Theodore brings the sheikh to a casino party, explaining mobsters are there and it is a necessary part of doing business. Will is surprised to hear that Mafia overlord Amadeo Cavalcante, right-hand man to Meyer Lansky, is present, and that he wants to meet the sheikh. Cavalcante explains that the business needs the sheikh to become an British citizen and that Theodore will need to expedite the process. Cavalcante also requires a $10,000,000 wire transfer to prove the sheikh's legitimacy. Cedric agrees, eager to bring down Cavalcante, while Will realizes the operation is out of control.
Cedric confesses his attraction to Annika but becomes confused and aggressive when she drops her French accent and admits to being English. Will arrives to protect Annika and tries to stop their deal with Cedric, but Cedric says if they back out, Cavalcante will learn of the scam and murder them both, as well as Cathy and Jonathan.
Cathy starts an affair with Justin Hampson, a mobster she met at the party. She mentions her belief that Will is working with the IRS, causing Justin to threaten Will, who promises to prove the sheikh's investment is real. Will later confronts Cathy, who admits she told Justin. She agrees to keep quiet but wants a divorce.
With Theodore's help, Cedric and Will videotape members of Parliament receiving bribes. Cedric goes over Christensen, convincing Barnes that $10,000,000 is needed to get Cavalcante, but only gets $2,000,000. A meeting is arranged at the offices of Cavalcante's lawyer, Antonin Edwards, but Cavalcante does not appear. Cedric records Edwards' admission of criminal activities.
Will visits Theodore's house and admits to the scam but tells Theodore he has a plan to help him. Theodore angrily throws Will out. Later, the money is missing, but an anonymous source offers to return it in exchange for Will and Annika's immunity and a reduced sentence for Theodore. Barnes wants to make the deal, but Cedric objects. Will suggests Cedric either has the money or is incompetent for losing it. In fact, they never met with Cavalcante's lawyer. Instead, Will had a friend pose as Edwards to con Cedric. Barnes accepts the deal and removes Cedric from the case, dropping him back into obscurity.
Will and Annika open an art gallery and move in together, while Cathy lives with Justin and shares custody of Jonathan with Will.

Once casting is done, it will be arranged that the whole cast gets to watch the movie! There are other roles that must be filled, but these are the important ones. I will regularly ask for extras, as there will be need for "extras", so if you don't get a part, do try waiting for us to "shoot" a scene where we need extras. The movie is called American Hustle if you have already forgotten. It stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper
, Amy Adams
, Jeremy Renner
, and Jennifer Lawrence
.
Word count: 250
Style: Action-y, smooth, and a bit of light comedy to boot
Intensity: The plot is somewhat long... TBA.
Notes: I hope to have a screening of the movie for everyone who is interested. This movie is set in the late 1970s and is based on the FBI ABSCAM incident. Familiarize yourself with the world of con artists and sting operations, why don't you. Not required, but it'll help a lot. When you choose a part, you will ICly "audition"! Meaning your character will be "reading out" lines and will be competing with others for the roles. So it isn't first come, first serve. Good luck~

Roles needed:
- Wilford "Will" Althaus - A con artist with a sort of double life, his path of crime started as a child, when his father was running out of money and customers. His father was a glass maker, and so Wilford had decided to take initiative — he smashed windows as a child to provide his father with some work. He is the kind of man who parties somewhat often enough and cons people in order to obtain large sums of money. He meets a young woman, Annika Honeysett, and becomes enamored by her. The two of them become a team when she reveals she herself is a con artist. Will has a wife at home as well, but has since fallen out of love for her. However, he has a son with that wife, and is unwilling to part from his wife, out of fear that she will leave and take their son with her. He fears never seeing his son again. He lives a pretty good second life with his paramour, until they are caught in the act. They are given a second chance— if they help with a sting operation for the MI6, their charges will be dropped. He takes the job, but is very, very cautious... after all, he's treading thin ice here.
- Cedric Bencivenni - An MI6 agent, he catches Will and Ann in a loan scam. He offers to release them if they are able to catch four suspected politicians in the act of corruption. They MI6 is having quite a bit of trouble in the assignment, and so it is hoped that the help of two con artists would help. Of course, this would cause a bit of scandal to be released to press. Annika is hesitant with this set up, but the pair of con artists have no choice in the matter. Annika sets about on the path to manipulate Cedric to make certain that they are not betrayed of out of his end of the bargain. Cedric takes to Annika's charms. Cedric seems very intent in catching the white knight mayor of Chester, Theodore Tosetti, in the act of corruption.
- Annika Honeysett - Will's paramour and a skilled con artist herself, she finds her cons work much better when the two are together. She poses as a Belgian aristocrat by the name of "Lady Rosette van Weingartner." A rather lovely and street smart lady, she's quite skilled in her scams and is quite the perfectionist. She happens to enjoy the things she's able to get out of her scams. She is quite in love with Will, having met him at a party and seeing similarities in the two of them— after all, the life of a scam artist is quite lonely in itself. She does regularly try to convince him to part from Cathy. She knows how to use her charms, and isn't afraid to manipulate Cedric in order to gain an advantage for Will and she.
- Cathryn "Cathy" Althaus - Will's wife. The two were once very in love, and their marriage has produced one son, a young boy by the name of Jonathan. However, their marriage has fallen to pieces, and she has her suspicions that her husband is cheating on her. She has threatened that she could report Will to the police if he leaves her. Not that he would, at any rate, given the fact that he really is a dedicated father to his son. She starts an affair with a mobster she meets at a party, Justin Hampson.
- Theodore Tosetti - A white knight politician who has a wife and five children, three who are adopted. He appears to be a very clean-cut man. He is campaigning to revitalize gambling in Liverpool, but has struggled with fundraising. He becomes friends with Will through a shared dislike of Cedric, who seems a bit too eager to catch him in the act of accepting bribes. Seems to have some connections with the mafia. He helps Will and Cedric videotape members of Parliament, catching them in the act of receiving bribes.
- Justin Hampson - A mobster that Cathy starts an affair with. He's quite a generous lover, to be fair. She mentions her belief that her husband is working with the IRS, causing Justin to threaten Will. Will later confronts Rosalyn, who admits she told Justin. She agrees to keep quiet but wants a divorce.
- Ashok Joshi - An Indian-Brit MI6 agent who is asked to impersonate an Arab shiekh, despite the fact that his Arab knowledge isn't top notch.
- Elliot Christensen - The boss over Cedric and Will. Disapproves of targetting Theo in a sting operation.
- Patrick Barnes - The overboss of Elliot Christensen. Approves of the sting operation and praises Cedric for his initiative.
- Amadeo Cavalcante - A Mafia overlord, said to be the right-hand man of Meyer Lansky. Very, very dangerous.
- Antonin Edwards - Cavalcante's lawyer.
